This Spicy Honey Smoked Turkey Breast is lacquered in a delicious mixture of El Yucateco® hot sauce and honey, then placed in a smoker and cooked low and slow until every inch is infused with delicious smoky flavor!
As a child I took great pride in my summer tan. As the summer wore on, my skin increasingly baked to a deep golden brown; giving me visual confirmation that I was making the most out of my summer. No longer confined to a classroom, or locked in my bedroom studying textbooks; I was free to roam, explore, and create new adventures.
As an adult I noticed summer brought with it an increasingly lighter tan. No more deep golden brown, my hectic life ensured my skin would be as white as my teeth. This summer, however, is different. The tan is back, and my schedule confirms I am making the most out of the warm sunshine.
Not only do I have a full summer of hiking planned, such as our trip to the Colorado Rockies tomorrow, but I’ve also been working my smoker overtime! Saturday I celebrated my birthday! Well, to be honest, I celebrated my half birthday. Who wants to celebrate a birthday in January? I invited some friends over for a BBQ and fired up this Spicy Honey Smoked Turkey Breast, slathered in a tantalizing mixture of honey and Black Label Reserve El Yucateco® hot sauce.

As long time readers of FoxValleyFoodie.com may recall, I use El Yucateco® hot sauce in a variety of recipes. You will typically find El Yucateco® Red Habanero Hot Sauce and El Yucateco® Green Habanero Hot Sauce at the ready in my fridge, waiting to add flavor to my favorite dishes. The fresh red habanero peppers make a sauce that is perfect for the plethora of egg sandwiches I consume weekly (seriously, I live on this stuff), and I love the unique flavoring of the green habaneros blended in to my Habanero Ranch Pasta Salad, which is perfect for spicing up your next picnic!
However, my favorite is the deep roasted flavor of Black Label Reserve; it is my secret weapon when I am looking to add depth to my dishes. It is carried by a variety of retailers, though I found mine at Walmart.
Combining the Black Label Reserve with Honey makes the perfect lacquer for smoked turkey breasts. The Black Label Reserve adds a robust flavor that is lightened up by the sweetness of honey. The honey’s sugar also helps to create a nice bark on the turkey. I also want to try El Yucateco® Chipotle hot sauce with this recipe as well. If for some reason you can’t find Black Label Reserve, I think that would be an excellent substitution.
Bonus tip: If you use this Spicy Honey Smoked Turkey for sandwiches, I would combine a small amount of the hot sauce with mayo to create the perfect condiment to bring all of the flavors together.
Grab your own bottle of El Yucateco® and start your summer adventure! Whether you have a cookout, go camping, or head to the beach, bring along El Yucateco® and savor your summer.
